<\/div>[vc_column_text]The UK government reiterated at the end of March 2023 that it supports the “no change” position at the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 in Dubai. This is excellent. Thus, the frequencies for culture, wireless microphones and television will be protected.<\/p>\n

In response to a question from Emma Hardy MP (Labour MP for Kingston upon Hull West and Hessle), Julia Lopez MP (Conservative MP for Hornchurch and Upminster and Minister of State (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) and Minister of State (Department for Science, Innovation and Technology)) said:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government has been supportive of Ofcom\u2019s negotiations on behalf of the UK within the ITU and at a European regional level. They have been advocating for the inclusion of a \u2018no change\u2019 option, which would maintain broadcast\u2019s priority access to the UHF spectrum.\u201c<\/p>\n

The 2023 World Radiocommunication Conference will decide whether culture and broadcasting can continue to use the TV UHF band (470 \u2013 694 MHz) as they do now. The band is of existential importance for media and culture.<\/p>\n
