Frequency Initiative 71 launched 734 477 SOS - Save our Spectrum

Under the name “Frequency Initiative 71” (Frequenzinitiative 71 / « Initiative Fréquences 71 ») our SOS – Save Our Spectrum initiative is working to ensure that, starting in 2071 (hence “71”), new spectrum is allocated to PPDR (Public Protection and Disaster Relief) network operators, i.e., public authorities and organizations with security responsibilities.

The “Frequency Initiative 71” is active in the following countries: France, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Germany, and Luxembourg. Until 2071, the TV UHF band (470 to 694 MHz) is to remain reserved for Broadcasting and PMSE (cultural frequencies). The reason is the growing demand for frequencies in the cultural sector. BOS can use frequencies in the 800 MHz or 900 MHz band. A new decision will then be made in 2071.
