With the title “Securing frequencies, protecting culture,” 130 people listened to a panel at this year’s “Future of Festivals” in Berlin. The dominant topic was the hunger for frequencies by mobile communication (IMT) and the military.
SOS representative Jochen Zenthöfer emphasized that the frequency situation for culture is constantly worsening. Enough is enough with the frequency losses. IMT and the military already have sufficient spectrum and do not need any more.
The panel was excellently chaired and moderated by Matthias Fehr. The decades-long expert in radio technology gave a presentation that clearly and comprehensively illustrated the precarious situation of cultural frequencies.
Silke Lalvani from VPLT and Prof. Maria Dolores Pérez Guirao (Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences) also presented the latest practical and scientific findings on the panel. Questions from the audience related, among other things, to the frequency situation around the barracks in Pöcking / Bavaria.
The panel was accompanied by journalists and filmed. Audience members were able to follow the panel at other locations in the hall, including at their stands, using headphones. Many people took advantage of this opportunity.
